The desert and femininity is a transformation trip to life.
Why? Because we immerse yourself in receiving things and situations as they are. Sooner or later, every woman learns that this trip is completely different than she imagined. Liveliness lives from the unexpected. It is challenging. Everyone brings the jump into the stranger. They are great of these women who go on this trip and go through all processes that pave a new way for them, or just become unspeakably happy and wake up for their own life adventure. This also includes redesigning some life and leaving some of them behind them.
Our ideas often cut us off the lively. That's why I design my desert trips in such a way that you often don't know what comes next and awaits us. We follow the conditions of nature. It shows us when and where it goes long.
Everyone comes into the desert with an idea. One longs for silence and relaxation, others are looking for new ways and visions for upheavals in their lives. Some are looking for the challenge and adventure. And every woman gets what is important for her to experience and grow on it. That is the large invisible part of the desert experience. And sometimes you understand that much later after the trip.
And let's go!
For 11 days we travel through Morocco with a minibus and spend 7 days in the desert in a caravan.
10 women, my nephew Aaron, who films this trip, accompany 12 dromedare and 5 men to our adventure.
Preventing liveliness are our ideas they have brought with us
Which luggage do you bring into the desert?
The poison for liveliness is ideas! Because they contain a schedule. As humans are, he likes to stick to a plan. That gives him security. And if the plan is not fulfilled, you get stuck in the lack of lack of consciousness. Everything that should have been and is not is considered negative, but it is exactly that the fabric is woven from the adventure. Plans and guidelines do not work here in the mighty nature of the desert.
Maddo always says: No plan is the best plan . The desert teaches us from the first moment that plans you do not necessarily work. Because nature pretends the beat, not man. We have ideas and still remain humble when they don't work! Just like again, because of the storm, we could not visit the places that we plan to visit. No plan does not mean being able to use the high art of improvisation and the ability from every situation to make a gift and a good cause that feels completely right.
We would like to fill up sunshine and finally vitamin D. The desert smiles and sends us wind.
From a distance I hear in the early morning, while together we do energy exercises with Qigong in sunlight
how the wind is slowly announcing itself from afar. I love this wind music. She harbors something mysterious. You still don't know how strong the wind will be.
The desert is not always quiet. It can also be quite loud.
Go, sleep and a lot of wind
After the nomads directed our breakfast and put everything on the dromedars, we run. I love this morning departure. Go barefoot, go alone, go with others. Everything results in walking. Talks with individuals or the perception of the landscape and the accompanying thoughts.
It storms. The wind with all the sand keeps us wrapped in his secret message for almost 4 days.
And as led by magical hand, the wind stops at sunset. Every evening.
At least that is relying on (hahaha).
When we arrived at a new place after about 3 hours, then two large tents are immediately set up for us and a shadow place with carpet and mattresses. This is the moment when I just go there. I lie wrapped in a large cloth, listen to the wind and though in front of me. Despite exhaustion, my energy level is so high that I have the feeling of hovering. That also happens to me at night. I always have the impression that I hardly sleep here! It is such an inner alertness that accompanies me throughout the desert stay.
Under the gigantic-light starry sky, I have the feeling of the greatest connection with the universe.
I like to be awake for this unique experience and sleep little. Mostly only 5 hours.
I can sleep at home. I am not in the sanatorium here and not on vacation either. Here I am on adventure trip.
I suck everything that I want to meet. After so many countless desert trips in my life, I know about this desert magic and I always look forward to all gifts.
For me, one of the greatest gifts is increasingly mindfulness and the absolute presence of the moment. It wasn't always like that! In some times I had carried out a lot of thoughts with myself.
These experiences are different for each participant. First you meet yourself in the purest form.
Everything we think about and maybe even annoying ourselves, there is a lot of space to look at here.
I do without information such as compliance with silence when walking and only pointing out this valuable opportunity.
I see myself as a companion, space owner and the combination of people and cultures.
Shooting room opening and the dance to femininity
I call my exercises in the afternoon the dance to femininity.
Here I would like to quote a colleague (Heide-Marie home):
“ Women who are involved in the spiritual practice of dancing are richly rewarded: If you give up, you can have the healing experience of being carried and flowering through that fulfills it from the inside. Also on their love
relationships
.
For me, these exercises for women are the connection to their femininity. There is a lot of movement in the shot room. And the movements of the circles and eighth, horizontal and vertical are a revelation for every woman.
As a dancer and choreographer, who has always learned enthusiastically from ballet to modern dance, hip hop, African dance, tango and much more, I know why I say that these dance exercises, a female body feeling promote the highest degree like no other "technology" . Speaking of technology! I attach great importance to learning a technology from scratch. Because as Nietzsche once said: Freedom comes after discipline!
And to see how the women are so much more connected towards the end of the dance week in the desert, touches me.
We even dance a little too hip-hop music. For fun, for the vibe, for the inner attitude.
The practice field of the dance is huge and every style has so much and combines with joie de vivre.
Only those who follow the rhythm of the drums will connect to Mama Africa
After the wind, silence and the delicious food with which the nomads supply us, the drums of Africa begin to speak. For me personally, this is one of the most important experiences with the nomads.
In their culture it is the case that music takes up a large place in the evening! After every exhausting day, you are happy to sing together, play and dance. That is the origin. The fire, the music, the shared sharing, the quiet stories by the fire and the loud hearty laugh, which results in simplicity.
I was so happy that Maddo had taken other instruments with me this time. Because mostly everything is drummed on what is there: canister, water tank, glasses and of course clapping in the rhythm. (Yvonne and I even sometimes had sore muscles in the upper arms of clapping). A special guest is there. Ayoub, one of our two chefs, is also a member of the music band Generation Taragalt E , with which he will soon go on a European tour. with Africa's most famous music band Tinariwen at the Taragalte festival in Mhamid.
What an honor to have him! But not only he plays fantastic! It is all here who can play and on everything
they hit, create rhythm and energy: Baschier, Sami, Maddo, Whali and Ayoub. ALL! This has nothing to do with a "folklore group for tourists"! If you find out about the link above about the music band Tinariwen , you understand the importance of music in the desert much better and that she is pure soul salvation! In no other culture is the music attached so much. But you have to understand the background of the nomadic peoples.
To date, Tinariwen is the most important and most internationally successful band of the Tuareg nomads.
They have been fighting for their freedom for decades:
The pioneers of the desert rock is the band Tinariwen. It belongs to the Tuareg nomadic people in Mali and has a clear message: freedom, recognition and self -determination. Her struggle for freedom is unbroken. -
"We are politically committed and are committed to the concerns of the Tuareg. We are concerned with concern how more and more countries areolate and close their limits. Therefore we use our weapons: our music - peaceful and, in my opinion, more effective than the atomic bomb." (from Deutschlandfunk. See link!)
Lachen, dance and pure joie de vivre. Only those who get involved with the music and let it be moved to dance will experience a kind of inauguration. What we may be looking for in the supposed silence will awaken now at the latest:
- The Kundalini
- The liveliness
- Sexual energy
- Exstasis
The desert and nights are full of music. The fire is sparked.
A fire that may have been out for a long time or has just never burned.
The nights by the fire with the nomads, music, drums and chants
and conversations is a very important part of the trip through the desert, as I design them.
I couldn't find this feeling in Sinai in Egypt. I lacked the drums in the evening.
I have already accompanied women there. But after I spent a lot of time with nomads in Morocco,
I know how important music is. And if you don't play yourself, you listen to music.
The man by my side is our desert leader and I spend
time with him and his friends out of the desert trips. Quiet evenings are rare! (Unfortunately, the cell phone culture has also caused its damage here, but this is another topic!)
Music, fun and fire are simply part of your culture! And I find myself there again.
I once said very long ago: I want to live in a country where people make music, dance and laugh.
So of course! Those who go on desert travel with me and my nomad lovers will not spend the middle part of the evening with silence. I want to celebrate liveliness with women.
Maddo puts the carpets closer to the fire so that we do not remain spectators, but are with us and the energy passes to us. Come forward. Not by far to the musicians. No! Fully in, right in the middle of it and hopefully happy at the end of the evening! Then calm returns. The fire is now a embers. Anyone who has remained until the end mumbles into their sleeping bag. Under the stars, or in a tent.
Sometimes we hear the quiet voices of our hosts talking and laughing. Sometimes I wonder about what they have so much to tell. Her speeches are like music too. Then it gets quiet. And I go out a bit at the moonlight and meditate.
As always, you only choose where your personal trip is going!
Being a fence is not for me. I want to smell life, taste and breathe with everything.
Even if the taste is sometimes bitter, I know that behind everything is always the learning experience that my soul needs to mature and develop. I prefer to feel life in all facets and dimensions than to watch the life of others with the remote control in the hand.
- How do I know what my next step should be?
How do I know what my goal could be?
Can I just start without knowing where I want to arrive? - I always go to my impulse. For me this is my guiding star personally.
An impulse is like a fire that sparked and if we do not add wood, we miss the moment.
That happened to me this time in the desert. I missed an opportunity. Because there was an impulse
that I didn't follow.
I sat on the terrace in Marrakech days later and thought of the moment I didn't go.
I wanted to dance in the desert. I didn't recognize the gift of the sandstorm. This wonderful storm! I wanted to go out and didn't follow my impulse and just stayed lying. I thought later. Later was too late. I'm sorry now. Very sorry! I had Aaron with me to film my dance in the desert. Because it stormed, I am not out and the thought and impulse that spread out in me anyway, I didn't follow it. I only recognized the gift of this storm later! The moment never comes back. I missed it.
That was my little lesson in the desert.
For the people who go with me, I wish their unrestricted attention to their wishes, needs and knowledge. To take false steps in life are also part of it. The older I get, the more I don't want to go to things with things and people who neither none me mentally or intellectually.
Ramadan, lack of water and dusty palm trees
Oh yes! There was also Ramadan! Even in the desert, their residents strictly stick to the plan: do not eat and drink before the sun rises and only again when the sun goes down.
3.5 days of sandstorm and the first time I see the nomads in the afternoon tired in the tent.
Actually, they are no longer nomads today. They are former nomads and are Sahrauis . (If you want to find out about the political situation, you can do this in this link). The Sahrauis are the desert residents and nomads that consist of many, many tribes. Once they were able to draw across the borders in the Sahara. That is no longer possible today. Morocco has drawn borders through the desert. In addition to this conflict in Western Sahara, there is still a lack of water. And this is really bad! The residents in M´hamid live exclusively from tourism. If this were no longer, there would be no life here.
In the north in Morocco it rains and in the middle of the country there is a dam that separates the south from the water.
The tears always come to me when I drive through the country and see the thirsty, dusty palm trees. And only because the world needs electricity like crazy. The Ouarzazate power plant (or power plant noor) is a sun warming power plant in Morocco, which is located about ten kilometers northeast of the city of Ouarzazate, Province of Ouarzazate . The El Mansour Eddahbi reservoir is about 10 kilometers southeast of the power plant.
“Morocco uses solar power to free yourself from fossil energies. One of the largest solar complexes in the world has been created on an area of 3,000 hectares in recent years. International donors such as the KfW promote the energy transition, in which many German companies are on board.„
What is less well known that this mammoth solar system needs a lot of water. That is why the dam remains. And the south can only hope for rain!
We would like to plant vegetables and trees here. But to get water from a fountain, you have to dig deeply. 12 meters!
When women strengthen their femininity in the desert , transformation happens
It happens automatically. Again and again I hear from women how protected and worn they feel in the field of desert men. It is so natural. It is the natural order: the man protects and cares for the woman.
In this field of natural order, there is something back to women that they hardly experience in their everyday life. It is always they who all have to take care of in the family and often feel alone.
On our journey together we feel the power of men and so we too come into our strength.
In our female strength.
From personal experience in my partnership with a nomad, I can say that I have never felt like this in my frausin before: seen, valued, supported, protected, support and respected.
We live in our male and female Poles. Archaic and originally.
I don't want to say that all men are here! That would be totally lied! I wrote one of my last blog articles . But I understood how it is when you first give yourself your own appreciation and love, the episode either a single life is lived in peace, or a man appears who appreciates you and sincerely loves you.
In the afternoon, when the wind subsides, I start the group of women and we dance.
Once we had to practice in the tent. Two plastic buckets with sand and a candle were brought in.
The mood was mystical. The storm raged outside. The tent walls slackened and we moved to music in a small circle.
The emptiness is what makes the desert so full
The desert invites you to always have the courage to change your life. This does not happen with your head against the wall or through the storm. This happens in the devotion with what is.
This is one of the many lessons and I feel how women can take away what they are ready in their way.
What great women! I love our connections, conversations and the time together!
And I love this country, the colors, the storm, the sun. The joie de vivre. The liveliness, the music, the drums, speaking, silence, silence, the community, the primal force, the people, the dromedare. It is so without frills and snacks and so original.
Live in connection.
Going together for a week through the surprises of the desert creates the greatest connection.
To you. And to others.
A week without a social media and the constant view of the cell phone and the clock takes us back to the origin of true conversations. There is nothing more that distracts you. You arrive. Simple happiness begins to make itself felt. Without striving for more. Thoughts have so much space to show themselves. Maybe they rebel briefly before they disappear in nothing.
The emptiness is what makes the desert so full. We empty, reveal, recognize and create space for new things.
It seems as if the whole universe is talking to you. Stars sparkle intensely down to the horizon. The night gives us clarity. I float when I sleep. I said. I have the feeling that it is hard to sleep and yet I'm not tired.
I feel worn and guided by invisible hand.
I hope that people who come into the desert go back home with a new perception and stay loyal to themselves. Quite a few find something that moves you to change your life. Or you get a call, a vision that you want to follow.
I am infinitely grateful for this nourishing time with the women.
In October I will go into the desert with men. Together with Maddo and the boys, we men will take men on the way to their masculinity.
Good connections and relationships with the opposite sex need strong poles of male and female energy.
In conversations with men, young and old, I know how much uncertainty there is. That's why I'm particularly looking forward to this trip!

I was allowed to be there on this special desert trip. The desert has called me for a long time and what a gift that I could now wander through with such nice women. I always felt well protected by the nomads despite the sandstorm, the serenity of the dromedare passed over and swinging on the back of these gentle animals made me dream of 1001 nights. When I danced, I felt the woman in me again. The desert sparked great gratitude for everything in me. Thank you Nora - it was beautiful
Thank you dear Sonja for your enthusiasm and that the sandstorm did not blew you away! We were really a great team of women!
